Thanks Don.

I’ve always wondered why G-d created elevators…O prefer the stairs— much better music in my head as I go up or down…

Don,

Terrific, I admire your dexterity in thought and writing. I was waiting for you to say that the Bethlehem in the song was indeed in Pennsylvania.

Two of my favorites are Veni, Veni Emmanuel, which is ancient and I learned to sing the first verse in Latin in eighth grade. The next is one that is rarely heard, an ancient Spanish folk song, Riu Riu Chiu. It has a flamenco beat to it. Then, of course, Il est Don Don and Gaudete, Christus is Natus. Check out The Sixteen, an a cappella group. And, as always, your commentary is what we are all thinking, but you say it best. Merry Christmas.

Oddly enough, I too learned Veni, Veni Emmanuel in the 8th grade. -- my first year of Latin. Those nuns sure could carry a tune!

Beautiful. Merry Christmas and I’ll be sure to sing this one.

I find it easier to sing in Latin for some reason. My mouth forms the notes better. During Advent and Lent we sing the Sanctus and Agnus Dei in Latin at my church (can you guess my religion?). We also get to sing in Latin during Adoration. For me, that is why I get up early on Sundays. Plus, we have a wonderful cantor.
